Until then,

A very special OC LowDown guest, someone who knows the bays as well as anyone, brought me along on a little inshore fishing trip. We were unsuccessful with flounder but we still had fun.

Finally found footage and computer difficulties near remedied, I pot Day 3 footage from the 2009 White Marlin Open—the day all will remember as the day the massive state record blue marlin was hauled in. At 1062lbs, it's status as a monster: unquestionable.
Anyone who has walked to the boardwalk's southern-most extremity, here in Ocean City, has undoubtedly seen the massive shark in the tank. Well, that massive shark has been dwarfed by the crew of the Nontypical and angler Terry Layton. As a business owner in OC (Layton's uptown), Layton has been a passionate angler for many years but the 876 pound mako shark, landed this summer as well as a string of competitive results has made this summer sportfishing season, the season of the Nontypical.

Well, it's August already. The summer has been passing by at nearly mach speed. When I think of August in OC i think of one thing; the White Marlin Open. I grew up within a close vicinity of the fishing tournament, one of the largest in the world, and each year the scene grows and the merriment involved is ever more apparent. It begins this coming Monday, August 3rd, and I'll be there. Until Later,

White's just not my color. I feel like it makes my already oversized melon look even larger. The song "Good Guys Don't Wear White" was quite fitting with the footage I grabbed at the Malibu's Annual Summer Classic Surf Contest. For the 15th year running, it was a huge success. With a "Wild Wild East Theme" including cacti, hay bales, the black outlaw-looking competitor tees, and an enormous bull skull for the Open division winner, it was an interesting and great time.
To all you stumbling onto this column my posts may sometimes seem erratic, convoluted, and occasionally lacking any organization whatsoever. That is all going to change as the structure and direction take true shape. Saving cash is my mission and as a struggling college student my budget is being tested and pressed daily here in OC. I manage to succeed through intimacy. No, I don't mean anything scandalous, I mean the intimate knowledge I have of OC.
And here its is folks; the 30th Annual BJ's Canoe Race. This event has gone off like this for the past thirty years. You're parents were there, maybe your grandparents for some of you out there. Its just another day of clean cheap fun in Ocean City.
Enjoy,
Ian T
